The Columbia Scholastic Press Association honored Providence’s literary magazine, Roars and Whispers, with two awards in its 32nd Gold Circle Awards program. For the newspaper, magazine, yearbooks and digital media categories this year attracted 11,110 entries produced by students at colleges, universities and secondary schools throughout the United States.
Roars and Whispers won second place for use of typography on a one page or spread. Alex Reinhart and Sanghamitra Saxena, 2015 graduates, were responsible for design of “Street Ballet.” The entire staff of Roars and Whispers was also honored with a Certificate of Merit for general use of typography throughout the entire magazine.
