This achievement recognizes your student journalists for staying focused on a their academic career while balancing the rigors of being active on your media staff for two or more years. Their dedication to scholastic journalism and academic excellence has earned them this prestigious award.

Two literary magazine students were awarded national medals from the Scholastic Art and Writing awards.

As a Gold Medalist, Cayleigh will be honored at Carnegie Hall in New York City on June 7, 2018. Cayleigh is also one of only 35 students invited to apply for the National Students Poets Program.
Nearly 350,000 works of art and writing were submitted by students in grades 7–12 this year. Receiving a National Medal places these students within the top 1% of all submissions!Since 1923, the Awards have recognized creative teenagers from across the country. By receiving a Scholastic Art & Writing Awards National Medal, your students join a legacy of celebrated authors and artists including Andy Warhol, Sylvia Plath, Truman Capote, Robert Redford, Joyce Carol Oates, and the renowned author and illustrator who will receive our Alumni Achievement Award this year, Marc Brown.
Roars and Whispers was one of only ten magazines in the country honored with a GOLD Crown by Columbia Scholastic Press Association. The award was announced at Columbia University on March 16, 2018. The Crown Awards honor top student publications chosen from CSPA’s members. Crowns are selected for overall excellence in a head-to-head comparison. More than 1,100 publications were eligible this year.
