Barnes and Noble Arboretum is sponsoring a Book Fair December 15th through December 22nd. Present the voucher when you check out, and a percentage of the net sale will be donated back to Providence High School to benefit the literary magazine program. For the fourth year in a row, and the fifth time overall, Columbia Scholastic Press Association has named Roars and Whispers a Crown Finalist.
The Crown Awards honor top student publications chosen from CSPA’s members. Crowns are selected for overall excellence in a head-to-head comparison.During Crown consideration, publications are judged on their excellence as shown by their design, photography, concept, coverage and writing. A total of 1,100 publications were eligible for judging.
Crown Finalists are actual winners, not nominees. Some will be announced as Gold Crowns; the rest are Silver Crowns. Final results will be announced and presented at the CSPA ceremonies in March 2017.
The Columbia Scholastic Press Association announced the winners from its 34th Gold Circle Awards program. Gold Circle Awards are offered to recognize superior work by student journalists usually as individuals but sometimes as an entire staff working with either print or online media.This year, these categories attracted 4,166 yearbook and digital media entries, as well as 7,093 print news and magazines entries.

For the second year in a row, Hannah Magraw, Literary Magazine Copy Editor, has her writing featured on a billboard here in Charlotte! Hannah's work is among 15 pieces of art and writing selected from over 2500 entries in the regional Scholastic Art and Writing Awards. This is the fourth year that Adams Outdoor Advertising has donated over $20,000 amount of space to showcase this great student work. Hannah's work is featured near 1650 West Morehead Street if you want to go check it out!

Hannah Magraw and Katherine Welch, senior editors of the literary magazine, have been named to the National Scholastic Press Association's Journalism Honor Roll. The Honor Roll recognizes students who have achieved a 3.5 or higher grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) and have completed at least two years on staff by the end of this school year. A listing of all inductees into the Honor Roll will be published in the NSPA Best of the High School Press 23.
